On October 2, 2013 at Stanford University (California) during the annual reception at the Center for Russian. East European and Eurasian Studies, Consul General of Ukraine Sergiy Aloshyn presented the state award of Ukraine - the Order "For Merit" of the third degree to patron of the Ukrainian scientific, cultural and educational programs at Stanford University and Harvard University (USA) Eugene Shklar.

Famous Ukrainian activist was awarded with the highest national award for his significant contribution to the promotion and preservation of Ukrainian culture, language, history in the U.S., active charitable and humanitarian activities, strengthening the international authority of Ukraine in the United States.
