On March 8-9, 2014 in honor of the 200th Anniversary of one of the greatest Ukrainian poets, artist and social activist Taras Shevchenko, festive concerts dedicated to the life and works of the Great Poet were held in San Francisco and Sacramento.
Addressing the audience Consul General of Ukraine in San Francisco Sergiy Aloshyn drew attention to the importance of the heritage of the Ukrainian genius, his unshaken will and struggle for freedom of the Ukrainian people, and noted a special symbolic prophecy of the Great Kobzar in light of recent events in Ukraine.
The celebration to mark the anniversary of the famous Ukrainian poet, artist and playwright Shevchenko also took place in Los Angeles, San Diego (CA), Phoenix (AZ), Seattle (WA), Portland (OR).
