Annual meeting of Consular Corps in California was held in Sacramento on 20-21 May 2014. The consular officers of over 50 countries, the leadership of the California state, the US and California chambers of commerce as well as representatives of leading business, banks, scientific and research institutions participated in the event. The Consulate General of Ukraine in San Francisco was represented by the Consul on Economic Affairs Oleksandr Krotenko.
The Consul expressed gratitude to the representatives of California Government for its support of the Ukrainian people in these difficult times for our state. He informed about the military invasion of the Ukrainian territory by Russia, the occupation of Crimea, the Russian support of the separatists and terrorists armed groups in the Southern and East regions of our state. Moreover, he stated the Ukrainian Government efforts aimed at settlement of escalated situation in that area, the implementation of the Geneva agreements, the Constitutional reform and nation-wide “round-tables” of national unity and free, democratic and transparent Presidential elections, adoption of Memorandum of Understanding and Peace by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine as well as the practical step on the EU integration of Ukraine.
Om 20 May 2014 during the International Forum special attention was drawn by John Murphy, the Vice President of the US Chamber of Commerce, who dedicated his speech to the US Exports strategy growth in foreign markets.
On 21 May 2014 the California Chamber of Commerce organized the Annual Breakfast of the Consular Corps with Jerry Brown, the Governor of California. About 1 thousand of California Senate and Assembly, the California Government and the US military officers as well as leaders of business, financial and scientific institutions participated at that protocol event.
During the speech the Governor of California emphasized that the state, being the 8th world economy with around 2 trln. USD GDP, competes with foreign countries rather than with other US states.
