Mykola Pidvezianiy, Glavcom's Editor-in-Chief, confirmed that the Russian authorities sent them a notice accusing Glavcom of the alleged "dissemination of news of the extremism nature".

The notice was issued following publication by the Ukrainian agency of a news under the headline "Russians are preparing a Maidan for Putin". The report covered the forthcoming rally at the Manege Square in Moscow on January 15, 2015, which had been triggered by what critics call spurious charges of the opposition leader Alexei Navalny, who currently lives under house arrest.

This is not the first time that Russian authorities have restricted freedom of press and introduced censorship. On Sunday, Russian Facebook blocked a page inviting people to attend a rally in support of the opposition politician on the orders of Russia's general prosecutor.

Russia's infringement of Ukrainian press freedom is part of a comprehensive propaganda campaign that abuses press freedom outside of Russia and suppresses it within in order to promote Russia's aggression against its neighbours.
