The results of negotiations in Minsk give hope for the de-escalation of the situation in the Donbas and its peaceful resolution, as stated by President Petro Poroshenko.
"Yesterday in Minsk, with a powerful international support, with an absolutely clear support of the EU, we managed to reach an agreement, which gives hope that the hot phase of the events in the Donbas will transform into the phase of political resolution of the conflict," the Head of State has noted in the course of his speech in the training center of the National Guard of Ukraine in Novi Petrivtsi, Kyiv region.
"We are still far from peace, but we hope that it is a way towards de-escalation," he added.
Addressing the servicemen, the Head of State has also emphasized that courage and heroism had become a "powerful argument on the diplomatic front". "Weak are beaten, but we are strong. Thanks to you and dozens of thousands of Ukrainian warriors, we have received strong arguments for the negotiations in Minsk," Petro Poroshenko noted.
He emphasized: "Nobody has a firm confidence that the Minsk agreements will be observed. However, the peculiarity of yesterday's agreements is that the negotiations were held not within the Trilateral Contact Group, but between the Presidents of Ukraine, France, Russia and the Chancellor of Germany".
Petro Poroshenko has also noted that the Ukrainian warriors would have a high level of maintenance. "The time of disregard for the defense capacity of the state has passed. Defender of the country will be provided with everything necessary for the victory," he stressed.
After presenting the certificates to the new and modernized equipment for the ATO needs, the Head of State has examined the given Ukrainian and foreign equipment with the attendees: armored vehicles, specialized ambulance cars for militaries, counter-battery struggle means, radio intelligence means, drones, etc.
Examining British armored vehicles "Saxon", he noted: "I'd like to emphasize that their level of armored protection is higher than that of the APC". The President personally checked the armor of the given vehicles and was convinced of their reliability.
Also, Petro Poroshenko checked the radio stations and new means of communication for checkpoints and operational communications. All radio stations are protected and have radio suppression countermeasures.
Examining the equipment for radio interference "Enclave", the President has emphasized that the given Ukrainian apparatus made the functioning of Russian drones and artillery controllers impossible. "This is what the Ukrainian army needs right now. We have already established their mass production," Petro Poroshenko informed.
The Head of State emphasizes that all the equipment should be sent to the ATO area as soon as possible.
