11-16 February 2015 the delegation of Ukraine headed by Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine S.M.Kvit paid a working visit to California. The delegation also included director of the Ukrainian Scientific Club N.I.Shulga and representative of Consulting Union "Navigator" A.Ginkul.

During the visit, with the support of the Consulate General of Ukraine in San Francisco and the American company «CRDF Global», the Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine delivered presentation on the reform of higher education and scientific research in Ukraine at Stanford University, the World Affairs Council of the Northern California and the Annual Meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), as well as held a number of important business meetings.

On February 12, 2015 S.M.Kvit and Consul General of Ukraine in San Francisco met with the director of the Institute for International Studies at Stanford University (former US Ambassador to Russia) Michael McFaul. During the meeting the parties discussed the impact of the Revolution of "Dignity" on the Ukrainian society, the outcome of negotiations of the highest level participants of "Norman format" in Minsk and approved Set of measures to implement the Minsk agreements as well as discussed the prospects of Ukrainian-American cooperation in science and technology.

The latest issue was also discussed during the meeting of the Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine with Vice Chancellor of the Berkeley University of California Robert Price on 13.02.2015. The information provided by R.Price on mechanisms of financial management of educational and training processes as well as of the protection of intellectual property rights at this University was very useful. The parties agreed to work on launching joint students and researches exchange program.

With an aim to promote cooperation between Ukraine and Western regions of the United States of America in the field of education a special event involving S.M.Kvit, Consul General of Ukraine and representatives of the US-Ukrainian scientific and business community was held at the diplomatic institution.

Important agreements were reached at the meeting of the Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine with the Vice President of the «Intel» Corporation John Davies, during which the prospects of establishment of «Intel» Research and Development Center in Ukraine and training of Ukrainian IT specialists in this international corporation were discussed. In particular, the parties agreed to define a spectrum of current IT trends (cyber security and web privacy, internet of things, multi-core, big data, etc.) and higher educational institutions of Ukraine, providing relevant training for professionals, to integrate «Intel» advanced scientific achievements at national educational courses and improve professional skills of teaching staff.
