Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration Valeriy Chaly has met with Director at the Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies under the Stanford University, former special assistant on the National Security to the U.S. President and Ambassador of the United States to the Russian Federation (2012-2014) Michael McFaul.
Valeriy Chaly and Michael McFaul have discussed the situation in Donbas and the fulfillment of the Minsk agreements. The Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration has emphasized that the enhancement of defense capacity of Ukraine was an important factor for the prevention of further escalation of the conflict.
The parties have also agreed that the increase in the number of observers and technical equipment of the OSCE SMM would facilitate more efficient monitoring and verification, but sustainable peace process in Donbas would be ensured solely by the deployment of the peacekeeping contingent.
Also, Valeriy Chaly and Michael McFaul have discussed the issue of bilateral relations between Ukraine and the United States.
