On June 26, 2015 Consul General of Ukraine in San Francisco Sergiy Aloshyn and Consul Oleksandr Krotenko participated in celebration of the 70th Anniversary of Signing the UN Charter in San Francisco.
Besides Secretary General of the UN Ban Ki-moon, Democratic Party Leader of the House of Representatives, U.S. Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi, California State Governor Jerry Brown, Mayor of San Francisco City and County Edwin Lee, San Francisco Chief of Protocol Charlotte Shultz as well as representatives of diplomatic corps and community participated in the ceremony of celebration the 70th Anniversary of Signing the UN Charter, which was held in San Francisco City Hall.
Within the dinner reception the Consul of the Consulate General of Ukraine had a brief conversation with the Secretary General of Ukraine, during which he informed about the letter of President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko addressed to Ban Ki-moon. In this context the Consul emphasized the importance of continuation of conveyance the UN humanitarian aid to Ukraine and deployment of the UN peacekeeping forces in the Eastern regions of Ukraine, which were controlled by the Russian illegal military groups. During his speech Founder and Chairman of the UN Foundation Ted Turner informed that representatives of Russia had not been invited to the evening event. He also stressed the necessity to exert all measures to prevent full-fledged war of Russia against Ukraine.
On June 27th, 2015 the United Nations Association in the USA held a ceremony of 70th Anniversary of Signing the UN Charter in San Francisco. The keynote speakers at that event were Democratic Party Leader of the House of Representatives, U.S. Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi and UN Under-Secretary-General for Communications and Public Information Cristina Gallach.
At that event upon facilitation of the Consulate General of Ukraine representatives of the Ukrainian community of California participated in the Flag processing ceremony of the UN founding states. After this event the Consul and representatives of the Ukrainian community had a conversation with Nancy Pelosi who informed about her possible visit to Ukraine at the beginning of August 2015.
