Preparation of the Draft Resolution was initiated by the Ukrainian community of Oregon, in particular by the Ukrainian-American Cultural Association based on adopted by the California State Assembly similar Resolution of August 18th, 2016 and received from the Embassy of Ukraine in the USA and the Consulate General of Ukraine in San Francisco informational materials.
The Resolution Chief Sponsors are Senator Laurie Monnes Anderson and Jeff Kruse. Overall 12 Senators became regular sponsors of that Resolution.
During the Senate’s session in her presentation of the Resolution Senator Laurie Monnes Anderson informed members of the Senate about the tragic consequences of Stalin’s repressive policy for the millions of Ukrainians and stated that Holodomor in Ukraine was a Genocide of Ukrainian people.
