On May 22nd, 2017 during 65th special session the Washington State Senate adopted a Resolution on Remembering the Holodomor of Ukraine 1932-1933 on November 26th, 2017. The decision was taken unanimously.
16 June 2017 22:50

The Resolution was initiated by the Consulate General of Ukraine in San Francisco together with the Honorary Consulate of Ukraine in Seattle and the Ukrainian community of the Washington State, based on the similar Resolution which had been adopted by the California State Assembly on August 18th, 2016 with the support of the Embassy of Ukraine in the U.S. The author of the Resolution is Washington State Legislature Senator from the Republican Party Mark Miloscia.

Adoption of this Resolution became a outstanding event because, despite the pro-Russian opposition, thanks to the joint efforts of the diplomatic missions of Ukraine and the Ukrainian community of the Washington State the text of the Resolution encloses provision on recognition of the Holodomor (Famine) in Ukraine 1932-1933 as a genocide of the Soviet regime against the Ukrainian people.
