On June 2, 2018, in the framework of the global campaign #SaveOlegSentsov and #FreeSentsov, a flashmob in San Francisco was held in support of the illegally sentenced in Russia Ukrainian journalist Oleg Sentsov, who declared an endless hunger strike demanding the release of all Ukrainian hostages of the Kremlin.
The representatives of the Ukrainian community of Northern California gathered in the city’s center. The Consul General of Ukraine in San Francisco Sergiy Aloshyn and representatives of the diplomatic post of Ukraine joined the worldwide call to release Oleg Sentsov, who became a victim of the Russian campaign to suppress the voices of those who oppose the occupation of the Crimea.
Ukraine continues to fight for the release of all Ukrainian political prisoners and hostages, prisoners in the Russian Federation and temporarily occupied Crimea and the Donbas.
In this regard, the participants of the flashmob called on the international community to boycott the 2018 World Football Cup in the Russian Federation.
