On November 23, 2013 Consul General of Ukraine in San Francisco Sergiy Aloshyn, together with the representatives of the Consulate General, participated in a major event to commemorate the victims of Holodomor in Ukraine, which took place in the San Francisco public library.
The program included a joint prayer for the victims of the Great Famine in Ukraine, screening of Holodomor (“Holodomor: Ukraine’s Genocide”, a Bobby Leigh film), testimonials by Famine Survivors, remarks by Dr.O.Weres as a public member of the official “Work of the U.S. Government Commission on the Ukraine Famine 1932-1933”.
The official program was open by a minute of silence, candles lighting and commentary of the Consul General Sergiy Aloshyn. In his speech, Sergiy Aloshyn highlighted the importance of commemorative events dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Holodomor in Ukraine, attracting a wide audience to the tragedy of the Ukrainian people and contributing to the prevention of future violations of fundamental human rights.
