President congratulated Donald Tusk on assuming the office of President of the European Council

President Petro Poroshenko conveyed congratulations to Donald Tusk on assuming the office of President of the European Council. The Head of State expressed hope that the protection of sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, the support of Ukraine's European integration course of reforms provided for by the Association Agreement would be among the main priorities of Donald Tusk's work.
"On behalf of the people of Ukraine, I wish you inexhaustible inspiration and victories in your future efforts aimed at further consolidation of the EU, strengthening of its international role and establishment of peace, security and prosperity on the European continent," as stated in congratulations.
Given the complicated situation in the sphere of the European security due to the blatant violation of basic regulations of the international law against Ukraine, purposeful external actions aimed at the disruption of its security and unity, the Head of State hopes that the first EU Summit under the presidency of Donald Tusk on December 18-19, 2014 would become an efficient platform for the objective assessment of the situation in Ukraine and the elaboration of consolidated steps of the European leaders with a view to support our country.
