The festival, organized by the Ukrainian Cultural Center of Los Angeles, was attended by about 500 representatives of the Ukrainian community and American cultural and business circles.
During the event, Ukrainian-American musical bands performed the national anthems of Ukraine and the United States of America, as well as folk dances and songs. The special guest of the festival was the Honored Artist of Ukraine Taras Chubay.
During the welcoming speech, the Consul highlighted the efforts and achievements of the leadership of the state and the government of Ukraine in counteracting Russian aggression, as well as the implementation of large-scale socio-economic reforms in our country. He also emphasized on the tangible achievements Ukraine has achieved in the European integration in 2017, in particular, on the introduction of a Visa-free regime for the citizens of Ukraine by the European Union and the entry into force of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement on 1 September this year. The Consul pointed out the crucial importance of all kinds of support provided to Ukraine, in particular by representatives of the political, business and academic circles of the western US region.
He also thanked the Ukrainian diaspora of Los Angeles for its continuing and hard work to help the people of Ukraine in this difficult time. In this context, the Consul urged the community to provide maximum assistance in the course of California's rehabilitation course for two seriously wounded Ukrainian servicemen Dmytro Medvedev and Mykhailo Lyalya who were transported to the United States.
