Regional Cooperation: A Delegation from the States of California and Washington Visits Lviv Region
04 December 2025 02:12

From November 15–18, with the support of the Consulate General of Ukraine in San Francisco, a business delegation from the states of California and Washington visited the Lviv region of Ukraine. The delegation included representatives of the trade offices of both states as well as companies in the fields of energy, logistics, construction, architecture, and infrastructure.

The delegation was led by Amanda Fisher, Director of International Relations and Protocol at the Office of the Governor of Washington; Emily Desai, Chief Deputy Director of the California Governor's Office of Business and Economic Development (GO-Biz); and Evan Reed, International Affairs Advisor to the Lieutenant Governor of California. The Lviv Regional Military Administration and the Lviv California Chamber of Commerce hosted the delegation in Lviv.

“Regional partnerships are a strategic asset. By building cooperation between U.S. states and Ukrainian regions, we lay the groundwork for sustainable recovery and long-term economic growth, and open new avenues for trade and innovation,” said Dmytro Kushneruk, Consul General of Ukraine in San Francisco.

During the official reception at the Lviv Regional Military Administration, key areas of cooperation between the regions were discussed — in energy, healthcare, education, technology, innovation, and manufacturing — and the next steps were identified for launching and implementing new projects. “This is a landmark visit for our region. We want to strengthen our cooperation in ways that will benefit both sides. In the energy sector, the Lviv region has significant potential for solar, wind, and mini-hydropower. For California, a global leader in green technologies, this is an opportunity to scale its expertise in a region seeking new energy solutions. Our region is also the national leader in the number of industrial parks — ready locations for American manufacturing, logistics centers, R&D offices, and innovative projects. And our universities, IT companies, and incubators are strong partners for California in startups, AI, biotech, and engineering solutions,” said Maksym Kozytskyi, Head of the Lviv Regional Military Administration.

Members of the delegation attended the business forum “Open Dialogue Between US and Ukrainian Business,” which brought together more than 60 Ukrainian companies — leaders in their industries. The forum showcased the region’s investment opportunities and pathways for Ukrainian companies to enter the US market. Panel discussions were held on construction and infrastructure, logistics, transportation, and energy — the core sectors on which Ukraine is focusing during reconstruction.

The delegation also held official meetings at the Lviv City Council, visited several regional enterprises, and honored the memory of Ukraine’s Heroes.
